Aintree is the home of the world-famous Grand National steeplechase. The racecourse is situated just outside of Liverpool, and is considered one of the toughest courses with its 16 fences. The Aintree Racecourse is a left-handed triangular circuit of almost 2,25 miles. It has a run-in of 494 yards.
Every year Aintree hosts the Grand National, one of the biggest and most famous races in national hunt. It was first held in 1893, and runs over 4 miles 3,5 furlongs with 30 fences over two laps.
